Manuel Lanzini’s last minute strike topped a three-goal-comeback for West Ham against Tottenham.
The Argentinian’s effort went straight into the top-corner from 25 yards out just before the final whistle in David Moyes’ first game since his recovery from COVID-19.
The visitors had a horrific start, as Son Heung-Min fired Tottenham into the lead in the first minute after receiving an inch-perfect long ball from Harry Kane.
The South-Korean returned the favour seven minutes later when he passed to Kane, whose powerful low shot found the back of the net.
Second was soon followed by third, when Kane rose above both Ogbonna and Cresswell to make a good use of Sergio Reguilon’s accurate cross.
10 minutes before the final whistle, the England captain was denied a hat-trick by the post, which was actually the only dangerous situation created by Tottenham after the break as United showed great spirit and desire after recovering from the shocking start.
West Ham’s brave efforts finally paid off when Fabian Balbuena headed after a corner, what seemed to be a consolation goal as the game was nearing its conclusion.
Fortunately for the Hammers, that was followed by a little bit of luck and help from Davinson Sánchez, who failed to clear the ball and headed Vladimir Coufal’s cross into his own net with five minutes to spare.
Then came Lanzini’s moment of magic, which earned David Moyes’ men a hard-fought point.
The Spurs faithful will probably remember the game with Gareth Bale’s return, but the occasion did not prove to be as perfect as it seemed at half-time.
