Home   /   Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal Player Ratings

Tottenham produced a brilliant display to beat rivals Arsenal and head back to the top of the Premier League, in the first game with fans back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A stunning strike from Son set them on their way and then Kane finished off a deadly counter-attack to double Spurs’ lead. Spurs then sat back and absorbed Arsenal’s pressure in the second half and kept their fourth successive clean sheet.

Jose Mourinho 9 – Mourinho has got Spurs’ players to buy into exactly what he wants from his side. The Portuguese developed the perfect game plan to beat Arsenal and his players executed it perfectly. Mourinho’s side will most likely be top of the Premier League for the third week running and the manager is a key part to that.

Hugo Lloris 6 – The Spurs number one had very little do to despite all of Arsenal’s possession; but he did brilliantly whenever called upon and battled through a late illness issue to play and captain the side.

Serge Aurier 8 – Aurier is like a different player this season and again he produced a brilliant performance to help shut out Arsenal. The full-back defended brilliantly against the threat of Buyako Saka and Kieran Tierney and he was a huge part in keeping Lloris relatively un-troubled.

Toby Alderweireld 9 – The Belgian passed a late fitness test before the game and Mourinho will have been delighted with Alderweireld’s performance. The defender did not put a foot wrong all match, heading away every cross and he produced a brilliant block after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke away.

Eric Dier 8 – The English defender produced yet another consistent performance at the back and like Alderweireld he got his head on every cross into the box. Dier has been brilliant at the back this season and barely gave Arsenal’s forwards a sniff.

Sergio Reguilón 7 – The Spanish full-back was electric! Reguilón defended brilliantly against the tricky Willian and was not scared to show his electric burst of pace going forward. The Spaniard has been a revelation since coming in and showed both sides of his game tonight.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg 10 – The Danish midfielder deservedly received man of the match and he was absolutely everywhere. Højbjerg made numerous tackles, before playing the ball forward and was celebrating every tackle and clearance like it was a goal!

Moussa Sissoko 8 – The French midfielder was the perfect partner in midfield to Hojbjerg and used his physicality to provide Spurs with lots of protection in midfield. Sissoko has really asserted himself in Jose Mourinho’s midfield and tonight he barely put a foot wrong.

Giovanni Lo Celso 6 – Lo Celso replaced the ill Tanguy Ndombele in midfield and worked his socks off for the team defensively, but didn’t provide that much of a creative spark. However, the Argentine did start the counter-attack for the second goal, setting Son away in the penalty area.

Steven Bergwijn 6 – Bergwijn again worked extremely hard for the team throughout the game; his tracking back helped out Aurier a lot defensively. However, the Dutch forward didn’t really offer enough going forward and rarely beat his man.

Heung-Min Son 9 – Son could have arguably received man of the match; he was sensational. The South Korean set Spurs on their way early on with an incredible strike from distance, that flew into the top corner. Son also kept his calm to set up Kane for the second goal.

Harry Kane 9 – Kane produced yet another sublime performance to drive Spurs towards victory; he set up Son for his 10th assist of the season. Kane’s strike fizzed into Arsenal’s goal off the crossbar to finish off a deadly counter-attack and he became the top scorer in North London derbies.
