Washington 20-14 Philadelphia
Two Alex Smith touchdown passes saw the Washington Football Team defeat the depleted Philadelphia Eagles to take the NFC East title, in a game where Doug Pederson appeared to give up on going for the win in the second half.
Smith hit Terry McLaurin and Logan Thomas on the first and last Washington drives of the opening half, Thomas’ a great catch that gave them a lead they never relinquished.
Washington started perfectly, going 91 yards for their first opening-drive points of the entire season, then Kamren Curl intercepted Jalen Hurts, allowing Dustin Hopkins to add a field goal.

In a second half where rain set in and defences dominated, Marcus Epps somehow hit J.D. McKissic and intercepted Smith simultaneously late in the third, for a rare Eagles turnover.
Pederson then no doubt infuriated the watching New York Giants, who needed a Washington loss to take the division, by unsuccessfully going for it on fourth-and-goal instead of kicking a game-tying field goal, before sending in Nate Sudfeld at quarterback.

Opening their seasons against each other and closing the entire regular season tonight, in games featuring five quarterbacks, Washington won both, and will host Tampa Bay in the Wildcard round.
