Championship side Millwall Travel up to Meadow Park this afternoon to face Boreham Wood in the third round proper of the FA Cup. Millwall are not having the strongest season, sitting in 18th, so a good run in the cup may be what Gary Rowett’s side need to turn around their league form. Wood are one of four non-league sides left in the competition, previously dispatching of Southend and Canvey Island to make it to this round. Getting to this stage is already a club record for Boreham Wood, but can they do one better and get to the fourth round or have they met their match in Millwall?

Starting Lineups:
KICK OFF The hosts get us going in the FA Cup.
1′ YELLOW An early booking for Jake Cooper after a late challenge on Kabongo Tshimanga. Physical start perhaps setting the tone for the game.
5′ A nice passing combination from Millwall gives Troy Parrot the chance to shoot from distance. He isn’t far away from the target as it bounces just wide of the post.
11′ Kenneth Zahore strikes a close range free kick well but doesn’t quite get the accuracy needed, fizzing the ball past the post.
17′ Millwall certainly look the more threatening side early on, but there’s always that feeling with Boreham Wood that they could hit you on the counter at any moment. They have managed to contain Millwall’s attacks though, showing why they have the best defence in the National League.
20′ Parrot drags another shot wide, this time from close range. They are having chances however Nathan Ashmore is yet to really be tested.
26′ SAVE Sorba Thomas can’t quite clear his lines, allowing Tyler Burey to pounce on the opportunity. His strong volley forces a quick reaction save from Ashmore, forcing a corner.
28′ A flurry of chances for Millwall. Junior Morias managed to block a close range effort in the box. Burey’s rebound wasn’t the cleanliest of strikes, Ashmore managing to scramble it away from goal.
30′ GOAL (BOR 0-1 MIL) It’s Zohore with the opener. Scott Malone broke into the box, squaring it for Zohore to fire into the far left corner. Ashmore got a hand to it but was completely wrong footed by the pass across goal. The ball is now in Wood’s court.
32′ Ashmore does well to get back across goal and hold a heavily deflected effort from Ryan Leanord.
38′ Tshimanga struggling in his battle with the Millwall centre half’s as he is still unable to break through. No real chances for Wood in this first half, a change of tactics needed as we approach the break.
HALF TIME Boreham Wood 0-1 Milwall
A dominant first half display rewarded for the visitors with a goal at the half hour mark. Boreham have struggled to get into this game, despite having a great start to the game. They will need to make some changes to their game plan at the break if they are to really challenge for that fourth round place.
46′ We are back underway.
47′ CHANCE A great start for wood as they break down the left hand side. A low driven ball is directed towards the near post, Tshimanga just beaten to the ball by a Millwall boot.
51′ SAVE Great stop from Ashmore to deny the visitors. A deep corner finds the head of Jake Cooper but the fingertips of Ashmore redirect the effort onto the post.
52′ Cooper makes a poor challenge on Morias prompting the screams of ‘red card’ from the touchline. He is already on a yellow and should certainly count himself lucky to get away with that and still be on the pitch.
54′ CHANCE What an oppurtunity for Wood squandered. Matt Rhead blazes his first time strike over the bar after being perfectly teed up around the penalty spot. Much better from Boreham Wood in this second half.
57′ YELLOW Femi Ilesanmi is booked for his sliding challenge from behind.
63′ CHANCE It should be two for Millwall. Tom Bradshaw’s strike going wide after being put through on goal. Will they live to regret that miss?
71′ Boreham Wood are becomming very frustrated with some of the decisions the referee is making. A number of free kicks and a penalty shout waved away along with the possible red card is starting to rile up the home side.
74′ GOAL (BOR 0-2 MIL) Shaun Hutchinson grabs the second. A well struck corner from Malone is directed goalward through a powerful header into the top corner. Millwall looking more comfortable now, edging closer to being home and dry.
77′ SAVE Malone looks for a goal of his own, striking a sweet volley towards the bottom corner. Ashmore is able to get a hand to the ball to pull off another super stop in this second half.
86′ We are at a point in the game where a home crowd would have really made a difference. They would have certainly been spurring Wood on to fight back into the game in these late stages. They’re going to need to find that fighting spirit themselves.
89′ YELLOW Adam McDonnell is booked for a very late challenge.
90+1 CHANCE Malone does really well to keep possession with a neat bit of skill as he enters the box. He goes for goal on the half volley but aims just wide of the far post.
FULL TIME Boreham Wood 0-2 Milwall
A much better showing from Wood in the second half but ultimately the Championship side proved too much for them. Hutchinson’s towering header gave Milwall a comfortable lead entering the final stages, allowing them to play a bit more relaxed. Wood can still be proud of the progress they made this season, breaking their club record for this competition. Milwall will now await the fourth and fifth round draw on Monday night to see their next opponents.
