Tottenham missed the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders
Manchester United as Ivan Cavaleiro’s 74th-minute equaliser secured a vital
point for Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Tottenham took the lead through Harry Kane heading in a superb cross from Sergio Reguillon in the 25th minute, scoring his 11th Premier League goal of the season.
Spurs had opportunities to extend their lead, when Kane missed a close-range header soon after his goal, heading over a cross from Serge Aurier.
Heung-Min Son had a chance to wrap up the points in the second-half but his scuffed shot came back off the post.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek had a chance to equalise but his acrobatic shot went wide off Hugo Lloris’ right-hand post.
Fulham finally took their chance when substitute Ademola Lookman set up
Cavaleiro with an excellent cross for the forward who rose above Spurs’
defenders and head past Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham thought they’d grabbed the winner when Reguillon netted from close-range but Son was well offside in the lead up to the goal
The result means Spurs remain in 6th place, two points off the Champions
League places with just one win in six games, while Fulham remain in the bottom three two points from safety. They could move out of the relegation places providing Burnley lose at West Ham and Fulham beat Chelsea at Craven Cottage on the weekend.
Spurs have an opportunity to close the gap on the top three when they visit
Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
