Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool

Following their 0-0 draw at Anfield last weekend these two old rivals meet again with a place in the FA Cup fifth round at stake as Liverpool take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that he will look to rotate his team around from the side that beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, but insisted that he “will put a decent team together” on Sunday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss at home to Burnley, which ended their unbeaten home Premier League record, a record that stood for over three and a half years.

The two sides have only met three times previously at Old Trafford in this competition with United coming out on top twice, their last victory coming in 2011 thanks to a Ryan Giggs penalty.

However, it’s Sunday’s visitors who came out on top the last time these footballing giants met in the FA Cup as then Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, masterminded a 2-1 victory over United in January of 2012.

A win for either side would earn them a place in the fifth round, where they will be taking on West Ham who swept aside Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Team News

The United manager hinted that there could be a return to the side for Victor Lindelöf who missed their match on Wednesday night through injury.

Sunday could also see Edinson Cavani make his first FA Cup appearance for The Red Devils after his three-match ban coincided with his side’s third round tie against Watford.

Liverpool fullback Kostas Tsimikas is back in contention for a place in Sunday’s starting eleven but Jurgen Klopp may be without Jordan Henderson who missed Thursday’s game against Burnley with a muscle strain.
