Patrick Bamford scored one and assisted two as Leeds United fought back to end Leicester City’s seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League with a deserved 3-1 victory at the King Power.
Leicester’s in-form winger Harvey Barnes opened the scoring inside thirteen minutes with a wonderful run and incisive exchange with James Maddison to score his seventh Premier League goal of the season.
However, Leeds fought back after just 127 seconds, Bamford found Stuart Dallas with a well-timed pass and the midfielder expertly slotted the ball past Kasper Schmeichel into the far corner.
Bamford then fired Leeds ahead, latching onto a Raphinha pass to brilliantly fire the ball over Schmeichel into the roof of the net – scoring his 11th Premier League goal – before unselfishly setting up Jack Harrison for Leeds’ third after a swift counter attack from a Leicester City free-kick.
Embed from Getty ImagesAyoze Perez thought he had restored the Foxes’ lead in a frenetic opening 20 minutes but was flagged offside, while Leeds substitute Mateusz Klich also had a goal ruled 10 minutes later. Kasper Schmeichel made a smart save after the break from a Bamford header, which Klich in an offside position put the ball in the net but the goal was correctly ruled out.
In what was a complete performance from Bielsa’s men, a result keeping them in 12th place on 29 points, eight away from the Champions League places. Leicester City meanwhile missed the chance go second and could be overtaken by Liverpool who play West Ham in the later kick-off.
