Richarlison continued his good form in front of goal as Everton strengthened their case for a European place with victory over out-of-form Southampton.
The Brazilian forward rounded Fraser Forster to score from a tight angle after being put through by Gylfi Sigurdsson to score his third goal in as many games and move Carlo Ancelotti’s side level on points with neighbours Liverpool and two points behind West Ham in fourth with a game in hand.
It was a welcome victory for the hosts, as they recorded their first home since December against a lackluster Southampton side who are now without a win in nine games.
Once Richarlison took Gylfi Sigurdsson’s pass in his stride to open the scoring after nine minutes, set-pieces looked the most likely source of goals as both sides failed to find any consistent rhythm throughout the game.

The best chance for the visitors came at the end when Moussa Djenepo fired just wide of the far post after a promising move before Jordan Pickford saved from Jannik Vestergaard, leaving Danny Ings kicking a post in frustration, the striker is without a goal in four Premier League goals with the whole team struggling to find the net consistently.
Defeat for the Saints is their eighth in nine games as they remain seven points clear of the relegation zone and in desperate need of a win to avoid getting sucked into a relegation battle.
