Manchester United came from 2-1 down at half time to run out 6-2 winners after a sensational second half performance to seemingly break their semi-final hoodoo.

The hosts did get off to the perfect start as they took an early lead through Bruno Fernandes’ clever finish. However, Roma took control of the first half after Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a controversial penalty to draw level. Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko bundled in at close range from Pellegrini’s cross to put the Giallorossi ahead at the break.
It had to be a huge second half from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and it got the perfect start. Edinson Cavani missed a golden chance at the end of the first half but made amends through a typically clinical finish from Fernandes’ pass.
United turned the style on throughout the rest of the half and blew Roma away. Cavani pounced on substitute goalkeeper Mirante’s mistake to make it 3-2 before another controversial penalty was awarded, this time to United, which Fernandes buried.
Paul Pogba headed home from Fernandes’ cross to make it five before Cavani beautifully played through substitute Mason Greenwood, who got in on the act to make it six and round off one of the greatest second half performances in European history.
Solskjaer’s side have become the first team to score six in a European semi-final since Real Madrid in 1964 as Roma leave Manchester on the end of another drubbing.
