Manchester United secured back to back Champions League seasons for the first time since 2013 with another second half comeback after trailing at half time.

Embed from Getty ImagesThe visitors dominated the early spells and took the game to the hosts. However, chances for Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes were not taken and were punished shortly after by a moment of class from Bertrand Traore.
The hosts, who’d been on the back foot till then, took the lead through a fantastic finish from Traore. The high press from John McGinn stole the ball back before giving it to the Burkinabe forward, who worked space against Victor Lindelöf and fired across Dean Henderson into the postage stamp from a tight angle.
United, as they’ve done so often all season, turned the game on its head in the second half. Déjà vu struck Villa as Douglas Luiz brought down Paul Pogba for a penalty before Bruno Fernandes slotted home to level up only five minutes into the second half.
Two minutes later, Mason Greenwood continued in his great run of form as he rolled Tyrone Mings before cutting his shot back into Emi Martinez’s near post with the Argentine unable to keep it out.
Edinson Cavani came off the bench to make the points safe after he scored a trademark goal as he ran on the end of Marcus Rashford’s cross to glance into the bottom corner.
Ollie Watkins saw red late on after he received a second booking for diving to compound Villa’s misery in the second half.
United will be left to sweat over the injury Harry Maguire picked up late on which saw him miss the first Premier League minutes since he arrived nearly two years ago. The Red Devils still have two games to play before next weekend.
