Brighton couldn’t find the back of the net after performing really well against Arsenal who struggled to get on top of things in the game.
Brighton knew going into the game a win would mean moving up to second place, however they will have to settle in fifth. Arsenal are now ninth, moving above Brentford who have a game in hand.
Brighton was by far the strongest team in the first half with Marc Cucurella causing the Arsenal defence the most problems.
Aaron Ramsdale was saved after dropping the ball in the penalty area, as Lewis Dunk’s shot flew over the bar from a few yards out.
Leandro Trossard almost scored after a brilliant move from the Seagulls but the Belgian’s effort just went over the bar. Even though Brighton dominated the first half, they couldn’t get a shot on target.
Arsenal had their first chance in the game as their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was able to go round the Brighton goalkeeper, but Shane Duffy was able to make a brilliant tackle.
Brighton again were the more dominant side during the second half but couldn’t break through the Arsenal defence as Emile Smith Rowe went on a good run where his attempt saved by Robert Sánchez.
Ramsdale stopped Brighton taking the lead with a few minutes left in the game intercepting Solly March’s header as the ball was falling towards Neal Maupay.
Brighton had a late penalty call which was dismissed after a VAR check and the game ended in a draw.
Man of the Match: Marc Cucurella
The Brighton winger was a constant danger down the wing as the Arsenal defence struggled to contain him.
