Hello everyone, Lee Jackson here on a windswept evening in Whitehawk at The TerraPura Ground ahead of potential ‘six-pointer’ between Whitehawk FC who sit 16th in the league looking to break into mid-table with a win going head to head with Burgess Hill Town FC who sit 19th in the league with only one victory to their record.
With both teams coming into this match with a minus goal difference there is potential for goals as both defences have looked leaky in matches prior. Will we see Whitehawk talisman Javaun Splatt lead his team to glory with three goals to his name so far this season or will the tricky Max Miller of Burgess Hill do the business?
The season is a long one although this clash could be a key one in terms of kickstarting either team’s season and really allowing them to drive on up the table. A look at the lineups for both sides.

CHANCE! ’23 – Unrelenting pressure as Burgess Hill go close once again. Talisman Max Miller delivers an inch-perfect low cross into the danger zone and Connor Tighe latches onto the end of it, a great save from Stroomberg keeps it level.

CHANCE! ’25 – A training ground routine from the short corner as an elegant give-and-go between Miller and Tighe ends with a lovely effort from Tighe clipping the bar from the edge of the box.
🟨 YELLOW CARD! ’27 – A cynical foul as Luke Emberson drags down Uwezu resulting in a yellow card for the defender.
’35 – Burgess Hill really stamping their authority on this game despite being underdogs as Miller squares the ball to Lewis Finney. Good save once again as Stroomberg denies.
’36 – Whitehawk frontman Javaun Splatt wins a 50/50 challenge to present himself with a golden opportunity but fires straight at Taylor Semour, he will be ruing that one.
CHANCE! ’41 – Slowly Whitehawk start to come into the game as Splatt brings the ball down nicely with a chested pass to Muggeridge and immediately puts his laces through it from twenty-five yards forcing a strong-handed save from Seymour and a corner for Whitehawk.
🕑 HALF TIME! (WHITEHAWK 0 – 0 BURGESS HILL)
’47 – Straight back into the action as centre back Lewis Unwin turns provider as plays a dangerous ball into Muggeridge but the flag is raised for offside.

’50 – The Whitehawk faithful really looking to raise the morale and performance of their team here as chants reverberate around The Terrapura Ground.
SUBSTITUTION ’66 – Charlie Kelly gets a chance to impress from the bench as he takes the place of Finney, Burgess Hill looking to get the crucial goal here.
’69 – “RACISM! SEXISM! WE SAY NO!”, is what can be heard throughout the ground from Whitehawk fans as their message reiterates that there is no room in football for it.
Tempers flare as a cynical challenge causes a bust up between both sets of players.
🟨 YELLOW CARD! ’70 – Tempers flaring up here Stephen Okoh is given a yellow card for a late sliding tackle on Miller. A cacophony of noise from the players and fans alike as a number of players square up like that of a Rugby scrum. Lewis Taylor of Burgess Hill also comes away with a yellow card due to dissent. Free kick eventually comes to nothing.
SUBSTITUTION ’71 – The manager has seen enough from Okoh as he is replaced by James Fraser, he will be looking to make his mark on the game and cement a place in this Whitehawk starting eleven.
CHANCE! ’76 – Tighe with an exquisite curling right-footed effort from thirty yards as Stroomberg makes a fingertip save to deny the opening goal yet again. Stroomberg has really been under the cosh for large parts of this game but has dealt with everything thrown at him.
SUBSTITUTION ’80 – Both teams making changes here as they look to break the deficit. Pat Harding comes on for Tighe who has had a decent game for Burgess Hill and Billie Clark replaces Charlie Lambert for Whitehawk.

’83 – Possibly the most interesting thing to happen during this game as a four-legged friend makes his way onto the pitch and steals the spotlight. A wholesome moment to lighten up this somewhat stale affair.
’85 – “ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK!”, echoes throughout as the Whitehawk fans really try to get their team going. The attacking in this game has really been something to forget as neither side look like they want to win.

CHANCE! ’88 – A delicious corner floated in from Lawson straight onto the head of unmarked Mohammed Kamara as the chance goes begging. A real big chance to nick it there for Whitehawk but it has been a story of ‘almost’ pretty much all game.

Reflecting on the Match
An overall disappointing night under the lights as Whitehawk with no goals being registered for either side. The quality of play was one to forget as both sides tried to knock on the door but without real conviction. A couple of chances went close for both sides but never really troubling either goalkeeper. Opportunities for both teams to get out of the rut they’ve been in with a win tonight were passed upon with this feisty affair ending goalless.
