Eastbourne Town cruise into the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a resounding 6-0 victory over Midhurst & Easebourne.
The result never looked in doubt when Dan Rogers put Town ahead after 11 minutes as Midhurst & Easebourne goalkeeper Josh Bird parried out a shot straight into the path of Rogers for a tap in.
Their second came in quick succession as Arron Hopkinson scored a beauty from 25 yards out, into the top left hand corner.
Town demonstrated their dominance with a pinpoint through ball by Leon Greig to Aaron Capon in behind the backline to slot it through the ‘keepers’ legs to make it 3 before half time.
Damage limitation would have been the message from Andrew Ewen to his players at the break to keep this professional Eastbourne Town side from running riot.
However, any message would have been scrapped quickly as Town substitute Leke Ademola made it 4 only minutes after the restart.
A defensive howler cost Midhurst another goal as Bird wonders out with the ball into trouble for it to find Jack Samways 25 yards out for him to lob it in for 5 nill.
Fletcher Holman round up the scoring after 68 minutes to put Midhurst out of their misery.
Town will be eagerly waiting their next opponent in the cup and their next fixture against Crawley Down Gatwick.
