Six different goal scorers were on service to hand Eastbourne Town a more than comfortable 6-0 victory over local rivals Midhurst & Eastbourne in the first round of the Sussex Senior Cup.

The cold Tuesday night at the Saffron’s ground started in dramatic style with after early pressure by the hosts and the visitors being very persistent with their defensive line; the ball came back across goal, to Dan Rogers volley into an empty net.

The second goal came shortly after and was the pick of the bunch by far, the common theme of the Eastbourne forwards breaching Midhurst’s high line occurred ending with Aaron Hopkinson bending the ball over the back-peddling goalkeeper from around 30 yards into the bottom.

Once more in the first Eastbourne were in through on goal from a long ball this time the keeper did not cover himself in any glory as, while playing the sweeper role all match this time left himself in absolute no-mans land back-peddling from around 20 yards outside of his own box giving Aaron Capon a simple yet delight little dink over the stranded goal keeper on the edge of the box.

Eastbourne added three more after the break with Leke Adeyola putting the game out of sight just after the restart and with the help of an outlandish keeper error Jack Samways was able to volley into an empty net. The sixth was added by Fletcher Holman not long after capping off a resounding cup win for the home side.
