Manchester City win group A and secure their place on the Last 16 after defeating PSG in Manchester thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
Thanks to RB Leipzig smashing Club Brugge PSG have also qualified for the next round of the Champions League but will have to settle for second place. The French side will feel like they should have done better in the game especially after Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring.
Manchester City were the better side in the first half with the PSG defending well as Presnel Kimpembe and Achraf Hakimi had to clear the ball off the line. The PSG defenders also did a great job blocking shots from the home side. İlkay Gündoğan was the closest to breaking the deadlock with a shot inside the penalty area which struck the post.
However, towards the end of the first half PSG had their first chance in the game with Kylian Mbappé through on goal but couldn’t get the shot on target.
PSG got off to the perfect start to the second half, where Mbappé scored the first goal of the game after brilliant work from Lionel Messi and Neymar and a slight deflected cross, which fell to Mbappé whose shot went through Ederson’s legs into the back of the net.
Raheem Sterling scored the equaliser for Manchester City after Kyle Walker put it on a plate for his team mate with a brilliant cross in the box. Soon after Manchester City subsititute Gabriel Jesus forced a good save from Keylor Navas from a tight angle as the Costa Rican goalkeeper parried the ball over the bar.
Neymar was part of brilliant move that involved many intricate passed where the Brazilian had a chance top finish off the move but couldn’t get his shot on target.
Soon after Neymar’s Brazilian team mate Jesus scored for Manchester City after an in-swinging cross from Mahrez, which was brilliantly pulled back from Bernardo Silva who found Jesus for a simple tap in.
After going a goal down PSG struggled to create any chances as Manchester City saw the game out comfortably and looked like the team that was going to score.
With the result Manchester City win the group as they are on twelve points while PSG qualify with eight points with one game left.
Man of the Match: Kyle Walker
The English full-back was solid in defence not giving away much to either Messi, Neymar and Mbappé. He also had a huge role to play for his teams first goal having a very good acrobatic cross which feel to Sterling and got his team back in the game.
