The African Cup of Nations is underway as the whole continent turns its attention to the host nation Cameroon. 65 years of history, played across 5 cities and with the defending champions Algeria tipped to retain their crown, we ask if the tournament is shown the respect that it deserves?
The most vibrant of footballing festivals is often mocked and undermined, especially by many clubs and fans in Europe, who begrudge releasing players to attend the competition. Would African clubs supposedly prevent a European player from playing for their country at the Euros?
