Home   /   Norwich climb out of the danger zone: Watford 0-3 Norwich

Norwich are now out of the relegation zone for the first time this season thanks to a fantastic brace from Josh Sargent away to Watford.

The Canaries currently sit two points above last nights opponents, meaning they’re 17th on 16 points. A win in their next match versus Crystal Palace could see them go level on points with 16th placed Everton and mark the start of a push for survival in the Premier League for the first time since 2013.

Josh Sargent’s inspiring display at Vicarage Road saw him score his first and second ever goals for the club. The American broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a stunning back-heel volley and then doubled the lead 23 minutes later with a powerful header into the bottom-left corner.

Watford’s display was one of their worst of the season and was rounded off fittingly with defender Juraj Kucka pocking the ball into his own net from Adam Idah’s low ball cross. The most disappointing moment of the match for the Hornets though was the second yellow card shown to their top scorer Emmanuel Dennis in the 78th minute.

last night was a massive chance for manager Claudio Ranieri to turn things around for the home side. A win would have kept his club out of the danger zone and set them up nicely to faec Burnley after the winter break. However, after the disappointing loss, Watford’s ruthless track record with managers could see them say goodbye to the once Premier League Champion.
