Oldham Athletic have continued their unbeaten run with a draw away to Crawley Town tonight.
Since losing to Harrogate Town at the end of January, the Latics have gained at least a point in every fixture. With relegation still a very realistic outcome for this season, the draw tonight means they now have a chance to move from 23rd to 21st if they win their next game against Carlisle United.
With 20 minutes to go Oldham were 2-1 down and it looked as though the recent streak under new manager John Sheridan, would end. However, a right footed shot from Christopher Missilou just outside the box hit the bottom-right post and put his side back on level terms.
Embed from Getty ImagesAfter opening the scoring though Hallam Hope, Sheridan’s side found themselves behind just five minutes later thanks to a brace from Crawley Town’s Ashley Nadesan. The Crawley number 10 had a superb game. A well-struck volley in the 58th minute levelled the game, and then a one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the 61stended with a calm finish to put his side ahead.
Crawley Town manager John Yems was sent off for the second time in his last three games tonight. With only minutes of the game to be played, Yems’ was awarded his first yellow card for speaking out of turn. He then responded to that with more of what got him into trouble in the first place and was then sent off by referee Alan Young.
