A day filled with finals lead to GB success and multiple impressive performances at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.
The first thing that must be mentioned is the gold medal on floor. Giarnni Regini-Moran is the first ever male GB gymnast to win a gold medal on floor and is also the first gold medal winner for Great Britain at these championships.
In the women’s events, the all-around women’s bronze medallist Jessica Gadirova was supposed to compete in the vault final but pulled out due to a slight injury on her ankle.
She is also meant to feature in the women’s floor final on the last day of these championships, but we will have to wait and see if her injury will also cause her to pull out of that.
It wasn’t just the gymnasts from Great Britain who achieved great things today as Rhys McClenaghan from Ireland received the gold in men’s pommel horse with an amazing score of 15.300, and USA excelled with three of their female gymnasts claiming medals today.
Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles were two of these great USA gymnasts as they claimed the top two spots in the women’s vault final. They both pulled off some exceptional vaults, but it was Carey’s high difficulty score that helped her clinch the gold.
The last final of the day was the men’s rings final which featured the silver (Adem Asil) and bronze (Courtney Tulloch) medallists from this year’s European championships. They both managed to add medals to their collection as Asil claimed first and Tulloch finished in third.
Tulloch’s bronze medal was Great Britain’s fifth of these championships and there are still opportunities to add more.
It is the final day tomorrow and every competitor will be hoping to go out on a high, but we will have to wait and see which of these gymnasts can get themselves onto the medal podium and claim those final few gold, silver, and bronze medals.
