Morocco beat Belgium 2-0 in shock style thanks to two late goals. Regragui reflected on his sides win, he said:
“We are still improving, I think we will be uncomfortable for everyone. We are a team that will be hard to beat. Even thanks to the incredible fans, we feel the support of Morocco from all over the world.”
Regragui explained his pragmatic approach in the game saying:
“In this kind of tournament, you have to choose between showing off, winning and achieving your goals. We chose to win. I am very happy with the result”
Whilst the collective performance was there, Hakim Ziyech’s individual quality has proved doubters wrong with a brilliant performance against Belgium.
“Incredible. A lot of people talk about him as a difficult guy to manage but what I see is that, when you give him love and confidence, he will die for you. It is what I give him and he returns my confidence.”
Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was at fault for the first goal, allowing Sabiri’s inswinging free-kick to beat him at his near post with 17 minutes to go. Morocco capped off the win when Aboukhlal fired Hakim Ziyech’s cutback into the roof of the net in stoppage time.
