World Cup favourites Brazil will face off against Switzerland at the 974 Stadium in Doha on Monday afternoon in a Group G clash.
After quieting down a feisty Serbia on Thursday and remaining unbeaten since the 2021 Copa America final, Brazil are now moving onto their next opponent – Switzerland.
Biggest concern for Brazil manager Tite will obviously be Neymar’s absence. The Brazillian superstar suffered an ankle ligament injury and is out at least until the end of the group stages, i.e., early December. Danilo also suffered a knock, so he can potentially be replaced by Dani Alves, who has not played in a World Cup tournament since 2014. Real Madrid’s Éder Militão is a likely starter for Seleção.
Switzerland were pragmatic in their win against Cameroon on Thursday – a comfortable 1-0 against Cameroon made manager Murat Yakin happy.
It is unlikely that Yakin will change much of his starting lineup, with Breel Embolo starting up front again. Cameroon-born striker showed his respect to the country of his birth by not celebrating his goal against them on Thursday.
Whichever side wins the game proceeds to the knockout stages.
