Lewes earned their first European win, by beating Norwegian side FC Oslo comfortably in the Fenix Trophy.
Lewes dominated the game and scored early, with Kalvin Lumbombo-Kalala heading past Oslo ‘keeper Robin Vikskjold in the 15th minute after brilliant work down the right hand side by Deon Moore.
Both Lumbombo-Kalala and Moore had excellent first halves; Lumbombo-Kalala hit the crossbar after cutting in from the left and Moore had a shot tipped over, 10 minutes before half time.
Oslo struggled to get into the game in the first half, with their best opportunity coming in added time. Their cross, which was cheered loudly by all eight of their travelling supporters, was well defended by the Rooks.
In the second half, Oslo managed to get on the ball more, but were unable to turn their possession into any meaningful chances as they were wasteful in the final third.
There were two lengthy stoppages in the second half due to injuries to Lewes players. The first came in the 68th minute, after a challenge to Arthur Penney in which there were concerns that he may have dislocated his shoulder. Fortunately, he was able to continue.
Just two minutes later, another challenge, this time on Archie Tamplin, caused another lengthy delay and in the end he had to be taken off, after only being substituted on at half time.
The result gave Lewes a well earned three points in Group D, while Oslo have it all to do after losing their opening two matches.
