Newly reappointed Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder was insistent that Liverpool’s second goal shouldn’t have stood in the Blades’ 2-0 defeat to the Reds.
Embed from Getty ImagesWilder explained his disappointment with the goal: “I think there is a foul leading up to it where he (Darwin Nunez) jumps onto Jack Robinson.”
The Blades’ manager believed that Nunez committed not one but two fouls leading up to the goal.
Wilder said: “I was most disappointed with the tackle by the centre-forward on Jayden Bogle.”
The team from Merseyside were leading 1-0 after a volley from Virgil Van Dijk when Nunez slide tackled Bogle before crossing the ball to Dominik Szoboszlai to wrap up three points for the Reds.
Embed from Getty ImagesLiverpool manager Jurgen Klopp found the game to be one-sided, despite his team leading the majority of the game by only one goal: “If you really look at it and you think, ‘who deserves to win that game?’ it was one team and it was us.”
Embed from Getty ImagesThe result meant that Liverpool went second in the League following Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
When asked about the title race, Klopp said: “If somebody would write City off, that would be the biggest joke in the history of football.”
