The Saints are looking to pick up their league first win of the season as they travel to play Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
Martin admits he was “disappointed” after his side’s latest defeat to Bournemouth, however is relishing his time in the Premier League.
“If there’s no bumps in the road, it’s not a path you want to be on”, said Martin as Southampton look to earn a win to climb out of the relegation zone.
The south coast side will look to stop their defensive rot – they are currently on a wretched run of conceding in their past 18 Premier League encounters.
Trying to end this will be Saints’ shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale, who is making his first return to The Emirates since leaving Arsenal in the Summer.
Speaking about their relationship, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said “it will be very good to see him… we loved him a lot.”
However, this will be put aside as the Gunners look to stretch their unbeaten run since the start of the season. A victory on Saturday could see Arsenal reach the top of the table.
