After disappointing defeat on Monday night, Southampton will be tasked with perhaps the most difficult test English football has to offer right now as they take a trip to the Emirates on Saturday.

In today’s press conference, Russell Martin highlighted Mikel Arteta’s success after being given time throughout difficult spells like the one he is going through now.

“They (Arsenal) had bumps in the road but stayed patient,” he stated. “If its not difficult then it’s not the right path to be on.”

The Saints will be without Jack Stephens after he was handed a further two match ban for ‘abusing’ Stuart Attwell.

“As long as everyone is treated the same, we will have to go along with it.”

Arsenal welcome back former Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for the first time since his departure this summer.

“Very grateful for what he did, believed in his potential on he showed it,” said Arteta.

When asked on adapting to life without injured captain Martin Odegaard,

“We had to be different. I think the impact that Martin has in everything that we do it’s too difficult with one player. We tried to do it by playing in different spaces. Maybe it took a game or two but we found a different way.”
