Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is off to a flying start in his seventh season in the NFL after being drafted by his upcoming opponent, the New York Jets, in 2018.
Since then, Darnold has jumped around multiple teams in the league, not quite being able to find the right fit to showcase the best of himself.
Head Coach Kevin O’Connell and his Minnesota staff brought in Darnold intent on changing that.
When asked why it has been such a seamless fit for him since his arrival back in March he said “I think it’s the hard work we put in this off-season with the coaching staff, the players just being able to get on the grass in April and really since then just been stacking days, really good days one day at a time.”
Yesterday, the Vikings quarterback was announced as the NFC Offensive Player of the Month after throwing for 932 yards and recording eleven total touchdowns.
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson, another standout on the Vikings, was full of praise regarding the coaching staff and the complexities of their offense.
He said “We have so many different concepts and so many different schemes that we have to learn and do. It’s not normal for a normal human being. But just you know being dialed in to the whole system and kind of talking extra with the coaches and everyone, we feel more dialed in than ever.”
Led by Darnold and Jefferson’s connection, it’s evident from the two players’ morale and insight that the Vikings are more than prepared to face Aaron Rogers and the Jets on Sunday.
