Brighton boss Dario Vidosic was pleased with “the character” shown by his side in their 3-2 victory over West Ham United.

His side raced into a 2-0 lead at the Amex before being pegged back by “two unfortunate goals” from West Ham captain Katrina Gorry.

“We probably could do better in those moments” said Vidosic of Gorry’s quickfire double.

Fran Kirby found a late winner for the Seagulls. Vidosic said it was the kind of finish they “isolate in training” – and it paid off.

Vidosic also heaped praise on makeshift centre-back Maisie Symonds after her “crash course” in central defending this week.

West Ham manager Rehanne Skinner was keen to focus on the “positives to take out of the performance” after her side fought back a two-goal deficit.

One of the lowest scorers in the division before today – averaging just one big chance created per game – Skinner was quick to mention her side’s added attacking impetus:

“The box entries have been higher. All of our attacking play has been really positive” said Skinner.

Vidosic will be glad to have escaped with three points to maintain Brighton sitting pretty in third. Skinner will hope that the last fortnight signals a new beginning for her hapless Hammers.
