Dover Athletic dispatched Lewes 3-1 in a comfortable win to keep them five points clear at the top of the Isthmian Premier League.
The Whites started strong as early goals from top-scorer George Nikaj and star winger Ruben Soares-Junior put the visitors 2-0 up in just 11 minutes.
Nikaj headed in his fifteenth goal of the season eight minutes in. Only three minutes later, Soares-Junior curled home his effort following a counter-attack from a Lewes corner.
Dover added a third in the 40th minute. Goalkeeper Toby Bull brought down Luke Baptiste in the box, and Baptiste blasted home his penalty in the bottom-right corner despite Bull getting a hand to it.
Lewes’ performance improved in the second half and was rewarded with a goal in the 59th minute. Tolu Ladapo’s shot was parried into captain Danny Bassett’s path, who slotted home to give the Rooks hope.
However, Lewes could not muster any more big chances. The loss means the Rooks have won just one of their past eight league games, dropping to 7th.
Dover maintain their imperious form, winning eight of their last nine games in all competitions. A top of the table clash against Cray Valley awaits on Saturday.
