Home   /   Argentina v Poland Preview: Messi and Lewandowski face off
Argentina face Poland in their final World Cup Group game needing a win to guarantee their progression to the round of 16.

All of the teams in Group C have a chance to progress going into the last game. Argentina will be hoping a win will be enough to get them top spot and a tie against Australia in the next round.

Two players dominated the topic of conversation in the pre-match press conference, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski will face off with the Polish striker’s team sitting one point ahead of Argentina in the Group.

Poland Head Coach, Czeslaw Michniewicz, was respectful of Messi but bullish regarding his teams’ chances. Michniewicz said: “I know all of Argentina counts on Messi. We’ll respect him but we will still believe we can win.”

Argentina needs to win but Lionel Scaloni knows that his team will need to be disciplined to avoid Lewandowski punishing them: “Lewandowski moves so well, he’s so dynamic. We know we have to remain focused throughout the 90 minutes.”

Poland have named an unchanged team in their previous two group games. Lewandowski scored his first World Cup goal against Saudi Arabia and will be looking to add to his tally.
