Under-pressure Russell Martin faces unbeaten Arsenal at the Emirates, who look to make it five from seven.

What has been a sub-par start to the season from the Saints, could become even worse after speculation that Russell Martin is stepping on thin ice and could soon be sacked.

Reassurances from the coach stating that “we’re constantly communicating and working with the bosses, keeping in constant dialogue,” would suggest marginal security to Martin’s tenure however the fans’ patience are starting to run very thin.

A confident approach from the Saints’ manager could result in more misery as he mentioned “My mindset hasn’t changed now compared to when we were on a 25 game unbeaten streak, I have never paid attention to outside noise.”

The Gunners, who have transferred last seasons run of form to the start of this campaign have seen a more conservative approach to this season’s expectations, with Arteta stating “It is too early to speak on the title, my focus lies on Saturday.”

Evidently a crucial affair to both sides, of which for very alienating reasons can only end in one way. Will it be three points towards the top of the table for Arsenal, or a lifeline for Russell Martin and Southampton?
