Home   /   AS IT HAPPENED: Horsham 2-0 Concord Rangers

Hello my name is Oliver Seymour and today I will be taking you through a massive game on the final day of the Isthmian Premier Division as Horsham FC host Concord Rangers.

Any form of result for the home side will see them secure a top five finish in the playoffs. As for Concord Rangers however, they find themselves already relegated in 23rd and with nothing to play for other than pride as they make the trip to Sussex

0′ – We’re underway here at the Camping World Community Stadium in what is a huge game for one team and a nothing game for another…

2′ – SAVE! Early pressure from the home side sees forward Daniel Ajakaiye have a strike which is well saved by the Concord keeper as the home side look to get off to the perfect start

12′ – The game so far is being exclusively played in the Concord half. The 14-place gap between the two sides in the table is certainly showing in the early stages here

17′ – GOALLLLL HORSHAM LEAD AND IT HAD BEEN COMING!!! – the ball breaks to Horsham striker Jack Mazzone in the Concord penalty area and the strike is powerful enough to find the back of the net despite the best efforts of Terry in the Concord Rangers goal. 1-0 to the playoff hopefuls!!

25′ – GOOOOALLLLLLL IT’S TWO TO THE HORNETS!!! THAT COULD BE GAME OVER ALREADY!! – another fantastic delivery into the box from Horsham arrives in the Concord penalty area as a corner from James Hammond finds the head of Jack Brivio who finds the corner, leaving Terry with no chance, 2-0 and cruising towards the playoffs as it stands!

41′ – OFF THE POST! – It was so nearly three for Horsham! A defensive error from Concord presented Ajakaiye with the chance to all but finish things off before half time however his effort was deflected onto the woodwork. Concord living very, very dangerously here…

HALF-TIME – It’s half-time here in Sussex and the Horsham supporters will be very happy with proceedings so far as they take a two-goal lead going into the break. Concord very much looking like a team on the way down and it would take a miracle from here for Horsham to not end the day in the playoff places.

45′ – The second half is underway and the home side has made a change at the break, with Lucas Rodrigues making way for Tuck

55′ – SAVE! – Sparks is once again called into action as Horsham continue to threaten to score a third after Ajakaiye was played through, however the goalkeeper does well to keep out the strike

68′ – An official attendance this afternoon in Horsham is announced as 1719, an impressive crowd for an Isthmian Premier game

75′ OFF THE LINE! – Another close call as Horsham once again nearly make it three. Tuck takes an effort at goal but his effort was well cleared off the line by a Concord defender with the goalkeeper in no man’s land

87′ OFF THE LINE AGAIN! – It’s deja vu here as Norton once again helps to keep the score at 2-0 with another goal line clearance. Meekums must’ve thought he’d done enough to get himself on the scoresheet but the Concord defender denies him. Not many for the away side have impressed this afternoon but he can hold his head high

FULL-TIME – That’s that! Horsham have made the playoffs as one of the best season’s in the Hornet’s recent history has one final chapter. It’s not just the playoffs though, they also have a cup final to look forward to at the AMEX Stadium in the Sussex Senior Cup Final.

And that’s us done here Sussex, a one sided game from start to finish where the 2-0 scoreline flatters the away side. Horsham were impressive and will go into their upcoming cup final and playoffs with confidence. As for Concord, the game today sums up their season and they will hoping they can bounce back to the Isthmian Premier next season.
