Although Bayern’s build-up has been far from good, last week’s 8:0 win against Bundesliga contender Darmstadt put them second of the league behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel said: “I believe we have enough quality, the form and the spirit, to beat Dortmund. We’re going there to win and continue our run in the league.”

The Borussen are in good form, being unbeaten in the current Bundesliga season and earning their first win in this year’s Champions League with a 1:0 against Newcastle.

Nonetheless, Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has respect for the upcoming match: “I’ve rarely seen two disappointing performances in a row from Bayern. Their senses are (…) always (…) sharper against us than against other Bundesliga clubs.”

The Red’s have not lost against their rivals for the past five years but are heading to Dortmund without important players. While Matthjis De Ligt injured himself in the match against Saarbrücken, midfielder Joshua Kimmich received a red card and will miss the next two games. Dayot Upamecano, Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro are still injured.

On Dortmund’s side all players are fit and ready to challenge Bayern in the German Klassiker.
