Home   /   Brazil edge Switzerland 1-0 and progress to the Round of 16 thanks to an immaculate strike from Casemiro!

Brazil reigned supreme over Switzerland as a sublime strike from midfielder Casemiro found the back of the net in the dying moments of the game.

The Selecao emerged victorious in spite of a contentious VAR decision that rendered a fabulous Vinicius Jr. finish obsolete early in the second half.

A well-executed play from Brazil saw Vinicius Jr. drill the ball into the back of the net from close range, having been found by Casemiro. Unfortunately, the goal was ruled out due to an earlier touch by Richarlison who was found to be offside.

Casemiro, nonetheless broke the deadlock late in the clutch when a pass by Rodrygo fell right onto his path before he sent it home with a sublime volley.

The Brazilians sit atop Group G of the FIFA 2022 World Cup with six points having amassed two victories out of two. As such they have guaranteed themselves a spot in the Round of 16.

Switzerland on the other hand now faces an arduous task ahead of them. In order for the Rossocrociati to qualify and advance to the Round of 16, they have to make certain that they do not sustain a defeat at the hands of the Serbians.

All to play for in the final round for the Swiss as it stands!
