Brentford triumphed over Newcastle United in a 4-2 victory. An exhilarating clash at the Gtech Community Stadium saw The Bees showcase their attacking prowess in fine style combined with tactical discipline to nullify the Magpies and maintain the best home record in the Premier League.
Brentford quickly broke the deadlock as Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the 8th minute firing into the top corner. The toon responded instantly equalizing just three minutes later. Jacob Murphy’s scuffed shot landed directly into the path of Alexander Isak who headed in from close range.
Yoane Wissa restored Brentford’s lead in the 28th minute elegantly curling his shot into the top corner. Leaving Isak regretful as moments before Mark Flekken’s remarkable recovery thwarted him off an open goal. History repeated, four minutes later Harvey Barnes equalised after swiveling and drilling a low shot into the far corner.
Wissa came close early in the second half when his deflected effort was blindly turned onto the post by Nick Pope. Brentford restored their lead for a third time, Mark Flekken’s freekick flew over the Newcastle backline who could only watch as Nathan Collins slotted home a composed finish.
