Welbeck’s lengthy stride met the pass in the 75th minute, with his first attempt at goal in a one-on-one position, and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner seconds after coming off the bench.
The game was heading into a 1-1 draw, after a world-class strike from Justin Kluivert 30-yards out, put the game in Bournemouth’s favour in the 61st minute, changing the momentum of the game.
Georginio and Joao Pedro were a prominent part of the way Brighton and Hove Albion played today. Pedro met a cute pass from Diego Gomez, to win a penalty, after a collision with Bournemouth’s Goalkeeper, Kepa after 12 minutes.
Pedro slotted the penalty into the bottom left corner, ensuring Brighton were 1-0 up until half-time.
Kaoru Mitoma also had a huge opportunity to put the Seagulls 2-0 up in the 37th minute, after a falling connection with Tariq Lamptey’s cross led to the ball trickling into the post.
Brighton climb up to eighth and on the same points as Bournemouth after tonight’s game, which proved to be a very important game for the home-side tonight. Bournemouth had the chance to go fourth tonight but never looked like a second goal would come true.
Although Bournemouth improved in the second half and managed to create an opening to bring the game level, Welbeck came to the rescue and squashed the Cherries chance of all three points.
