Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves after a late double from the visitors.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and substitute Evan Ferguson appeared to have secured a comfortable win for the hosts, until two late goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha broke Brighton hearts.
Embed from Getty ImagesWelbeck’s goal just before half-time was his sixth goal in nine games. The in-form striker was deemed fit to play after being an injury concern and put the hosts in front with a driven shot across goal.
Brighton dominated most of the match, and it appeared Ferguson’s finish had secured the Seagulls’ fifth win of the season.
Embed from Getty ImagesBut late drama struck at the Amex. Ait-Nouri scored following a corner in the 89th minute, and Cunha’s stoppage-time strike deflected off Jan Paul van Hecke, onto the bar, and in. A sour result for Brighton, who squandered a four-on-one thirty seconds before Cunha’s goal.
The first half was largely controlled by the hosts. Kaoru Mitoma and Carlos Baleba had chances in a spell of dominance for the Seagulls, but neither could break the deadlock until Welbeck’s chance was converted.

Wolves’ two late goals snatched a point for Gary O’Neil’s side, doubling their points tally as they move off the bottom spot in the league.
