Villa opened the scoring in the 13th minute when their captain Rachel Daly finished like a true striker from close range.

This lead only lasted a minute later when an initial cross was squared by Brighton left-wing back Poppy Pattinson, which led to Parris scoring from right in front for her first goal for Brighton.

Brighton took the lead in the 38th minute as Parris was able to carry the ball forward and slide a pass into the feet of Pauline Bremer who scored with a cool, calm finish.

Brighton went into half time with a goal advantage however 13 minutes after the resumption, Villa’s Anna Patten was awarded a penalty when she was clumsily brought down in the box.

Daly easily scored the penalty for her 2nd goal of the match as she sent Brighton Goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley the wrong way.

The score remained 2-2 until the 76th minute when Spaniard Paula Tomas was sent off after elbowing half time substitute Kiko Seike in the penalty area.

Brighton took advantage of this as Fran Kirby effortlessly converted from the spot to put Brighton ahead 3-2.

Both teams were down to ten players in stoppage time when Pattinson was shown a red card but substitute Michelle Agyemang made sure of the victory for Brighton when she scored on the counter to make the final score 4-2 to Brighton.
