A festival of all things cats will roll into Brighton for the first time this weekend.

The Cat Extravaganza by Loving Cats Worldwide has been across the country but will finally come to Brighton Racecourse this Saturday and Sunday.

Steven Meserve, the founder of LCWW, said: “This is the first time we’ve been to Brighton, and I have been trying to get here for a few years.

“It will be our biggest show to date and it’s a cool area to be in.”

The event will see cats from across Europe and the United States take part in an International Competition as well as offer people the chance to learn more about their furry friends.

Mr Meserve said: “We do a huge meet the breeds where we take the cats and explain different breed types to the audience during the day.

“We also do a talk on proper grooming and general healthcare and then a talk on the questions to ask if you’re going to add another cat to your home, and this one has face painting for the kids on Saturday which is a cool feature.

“It’s not just your typical cat show, it’s really an all-things cat extravaganza event.”

Tickets are available online and Mr Meserve is hoping for a good turnout.

He said: “It’s not like a concert so people can come and go as they want.

“Some people stay for an hour, some stay for two hours, but I’m hoping that we have about 1,000 per day.”
