Eastbourne Town impressed fans on Tuesday after they thrashed Midhurst and Easebourne 6-0 in the Sussex Senior Cup.
Dan Rogers opened the scoring 11 minutes into the game after the ball fell to him following a great save from Josh Bird in goal. The lead was doubled by Arron Hopkinson after the striker found the ball on the left before cutting inside and curling an audacious effort into the top right.
Town were brilliant at opening up the Midhurst defence throughout the first half. A period of fantastic team play ended with a goal from Aaron Capon, who was able to calmly slot the ball bast Bird and into the net with ease.
The home side continued the game on the front foot after half time, where it was only a matter of minutes before substitute Leke Ademola passed the ball under the goalkeeper and into the goal.
Arguably the goal of the game came from Jack Samways, who was able to volley the ball into the top right corner from distance following a poor defensive clearance.
The final goal came from youngster Fletcher Holman after the ball fell into his path following a saved effort from Ademola. Eastbourne could have easily scored a number of extra goals had it not been for some excellent stops from the Midhurst goalkeeper.
Following a dominant performance at The Saffrons, Eastbourne Town now move into the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup. Despite being knocked out early in the competition, Midhurst and Easebourne still have everything to play for as they remain at the top of the Southern Combination Football League Division One.
