Edinburgh take on Cardiff Blues at The BT Murrayfield Stadium, in a fifth against second battle in the Guinness Pro 14 Conference B.

Cardiff sit second in the table, but Edinburgh are struggling in fifth position, although a bonus point win would see them rise into second. Edinburgh will take confidence from their narrow 3-6 victory over Scarlets last time out; whereas Cardiff lost to league leaders Munster 38-27. This will be an even match up, with both sides taking two wins each from their last four meetings; although Edinburgh have won the last two.

Edinburgh are without 23 senior players due to international commitments and injuries. However, head coach Richard Cockerill still believes his side can get something out of the game, as he told The Courier, “we obviously have a large number of players unavailable due to injury or on international duty, but that gives an opportunity to younger guys that will be keen to make an impact from the get-go,โ€ said Cockerill.

The Blues squad is also blighted by injuries and players out on international duty, but they do welcome back winger Owen Lane into the squad. The Welsh international is set to make his first start since January, much to the delight of his head coach, โ€œitโ€™s great to welcome Laney back from injury… Iโ€™m excited to see him getting back to doing what he does best,” said John Mulvihill.
