A brace from Ezri Konsa last Sunday earned an impressive three points for Aston Villa as they came back against the poor performing Leicester City at Villa Park.
Despite the away side taking the lead through a clever shot from Harvey Barnes’s in the 14th minute, Villa centre-back Konsa defied all the stereotypes by grabbing the equaliser in the 17th and then the winner from a corner in the 54th.
That winning header which slipped past Kasper Schmeichel was enough to push the home side up to 10th in the table, now higher than their opponent thanks to just one more goal difference.
Since replacing Dean Smith in early November, Villa boss Steven Gerrard boasts three wins from four Premier League matches, half of what his predecessor managed in 11. Although Smith went down as a hero at Villa, their recent push into the table’s top half signifies the affect his replacement has had.
Come the end of last season, Leicester were contending for a Champions League spot. However, following Sunday’s disappointment, they’ve only won five of their opening 15 games. With Rodgers having been recently linked with a move to Manchester United, maybe even he’s aware that he’s taken The Foxes as far as he can.

Meanwhile, The Villa may be on a high right now, but they have a huge challenge heading into this weekend as Gerrard makes his return to Anfield against Liverpool.
