Hi, I’m Lewis Pettman join me tonight in the final champions league game of group B. Tonight’s game of FC Porto – Atletico Madrid has a lot riding on it. For Porto a win could put them top of the group but that all depends on the other 5:45 kick off of Club Brugge vs Bayer Leverkusen. For Atletico Madrid a disappointing Champions League display has left them meaning they can either finish 3rd and play Europa League football or 4th and be bottom of the group with nothing but again this also depends on the other game which I will be updating you on if there is a big update.
1: FC Porto 0-0 Atletico Madrid: Kick off at the Estadio do Dragao.
3:FC Porto 0-0 Atletico Madrid: Foul on Witsel by Evanilson.
4:FC Porto 0-0 Atletico Madrid: Corner to Atletico Madrid conceded by Marcano. Which comes to nothing.
5: FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Goal! A tap in for star man Mehdi Taremi a wonderful through ball from Otavio finds Evanilson who lays the ball across the box for Taremi who taps it into an empty net to give the home side the 1-0 lead.
As things stand Porto now top the group and Atletico Madrid are now in 4th place as the other game remains 0-0.
10:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Injury! Foul on Pepe by Joao Felix after Felix collided with Pepe, and it has left the Porto man down on the ground and receiving treatment. Pepe is back on the pitch.
13:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Save! Porto are dominating as a nice passing play between Taremi and Galeno leaves Galeno 1-1 with Jan Oblak and the keeper saves for a Porto corner, but these are worrying signs for Atletico Madrid.
15:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Foul! The goal scorer Taremi and Axel Witsel go up for a header with Taremi leaving an elbow on Witsel for an Atletico Madrid freekick.
18:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Atletico Madrid have been dominating on the ball for the last few minutes with some nice passing play on the edge of the Porto box but a ball over the top results in nothing and goes out for a Porto goal kick.
20:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Foul! This feels like a game of fouls after a ball is contended by Savic and Galeno and Galeno just catches Savic in the throat with his arm. Atletico Madrid freekick.
22:FC Porto 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Atletico Madrid are still dominating with Reinildo putting in a looping cross at the back post for Molina but Galeno clears for a corner which comes to nothing.
24:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Goal! Atletico’s pressure comes to nothing after a lovely Porto counterattack. A long ball over the top finds Galeno who drives to the by-line and rolls the ball perfectly to Canadian Stephen Eustaquio who places the ball perfectly into the bottom corner past Oblak who can’t do anything about it. Atletico’s European dream looks all but over at the first hurdle.
28:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Corner! Goal scorer Eustaquio whips in a corner but it goes straight into Oblak’s arms.
32:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Rodrigo De Paul receives the ball on the edge of the box after a lay back by Molina but tamely hits the ball along the ground into the arms of keeper Diogo Costa.
35:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: The game has fizzled out as Atletico look for a way back into this game but seemingly offer nothing going forward this will be a disappointing end to what in truth has been a disappointing campaign.
37:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Never mind we have had a chance. And again, it is for the home side. A ball over the top which seems to be coming to nothing is lost by Savic with the ball finding Taremi who plays a beautiful pass which goes through the box to Otavio finds the winger who shoots from a difficult angle and forces a save from Jan Oblak with his foot.
39:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Yellow card! Marko Grujic the former Liverpool man catches Correa with a soft touch on the side of the face with the Argentinian who goes down holding his face and Grujic receives a booking.
Embed from Getty Images42:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Yellow card and Corner: Reinildo catches Otavio on the back of the calf but the referee plays advantage with the ball going to Grujic whose shot is blocked for a corner. Weirdly Reinildo decides to high five the referee after the decision.
45:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: 2 minutes of added time.
45:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Half time.
Half time has come, and things are not looking good for Atletico Madrid. Atletico have offered nothing so far and Porto have been the much better team with players like Galeno really running this game. Taremi and Eustaquio have given the home side the lead and currently top spot in the group. As things stand Atletico are bottom of the group as the other 5:45 kick off between Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen is also 0-0. A lot of work to do in the second half for Atletico Madrid but this is the champions league, and anything can happen.
45:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: The second half is underway. No changes at the break
47:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: chance! Former Chelsea man Saul has a half chance after a ball to the back post finds Saul hose touch lets him down with the ball going out for a goal kick. That sums up his time at Chelsea as well. Disappointing.
50:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Foul! Sanusi is running through, but Savic stops him in his path as they clash knees after Sanusi is down for a few minutes he is now on his feet and Porto have a freekick which is cleared by Savic.
The group table as things stand:
52:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Sub! Sanusi cannot continue and Brazilian left back Wendell comes on to replace him.
58:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Nothing has really happened since that substitution with the ball going between Porto and Atletico with neither side playing with any real conviction. Simeone needs to change things up sooner rather than later.
60:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Sub! Atletico Madrid make a double substitution with Carrasco and Cunha coming on and Saul and Felix coming off. Felix the former Benfica man receives a huge number of boos from the home crowd. Looks like Simeone is listening to what I’m saying.
62:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Huge chance! The ball is threaded through to Evanilson who is 1-1 with Oblak but he blazes his shot over the bar. That could have been game over. Atletico have a lifeline.
66:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Corners! A double succession of corners for Atletico Madrid are wasted.
69:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Controversy! Turns out they almost weren’t wasted. Griezmann receives the ball and smashes the ball into the top right corner, but the goal is disallowed for apparently what a foul by De Paul for what looks to me like a 50/50. De Paul is outraged and has words with Cardoso and grabs the Porto man round the back of the neck and a huge scuffle form. The referee who has got this disallowed goal horribly wrong books both De Paul and Cardoso.
72:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: This game is really heating up! Porto counter and Witsel brings down Otavio with the referee paying advantage. Atletico Madrid get into the box but a bad touch from Evanilson means Porto only get a corner. The corner is taken well and finds Evanilson who is open at the front post and his shot is saved by Oblak.
73:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Another chance! This game has come to life. Atletico take their goal kick quickly and the ball finds its way to Correa whose shot is straight into the palms of Costa.
77:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Chance!: The ball is played to Taremi on the edge of the box with the Iranian in acres of space with his shot blocked by Witsel resulting in a corner which comes to nothing.
81:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Foul and Sub! Evanilson is brought down by Griezmann. Evanilson is then taken off by former west ham player Toni Martinez.
85:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Sub! Barrios on for Correa.
87:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Chance! The ball finds Carrasco on the left-hand side who plays the ball into Griezmann who has been pretty ineffective in this game has a shot which is easily caught by Diogo costa.
89:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: Triple substitution for Atletico Madrid
90:FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid: 5 additional minutes of added time.
Full time: Club Brugge 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen cheers around Estadio Do Dragao as the other group game finishes 0-0 meaning Porto will top the group.
90+5:FC Porto 2-1 Atletico Madrid: Goal! This may only be a consolation as Stefan Svic scores from the corner to make it 2-1.
90: Full time FC Porto 2-1 Atletico Madrid
That is full time in both 5:45 kick offs and it couldn’t have gone much worse for Atletico Madrid. An early goal from Mehdi Taremi put Atletico on the backfoot and then another goal from Eustaquio basically finished off the game in the first half. Atletico had a goal disallowed controversially and then scored late on with Stefan Savic. With the other game ending 0-0 this means Porto win the group and Atletico Madrid finish bottom whilst Club Brugge finish 2nd and Bayer Leverkusen finish 3rd and take the Europa League place. Thats all from me thank you for tuning in.
