Leicester capitalized in penalties 4-3 after a hard-fought scoreless draw away from home against Brighton in the League Cup bringing them to second in Group D.

Goalkeeper Lize Kop was the hero for the Foxes, saving Brighton’s fourth penalty.

Deanne Rose converted Leicester’s final penalty as she thrashed a shot into the top right corner despite the keeper getting a hand to it.

The Foxes were the brighter of the two sides, producing the majority of the chances.

Just five minutes in, Missy Goodwin was put through on goal with a sumptuous ball over the top for their first opportunity of the match but was hit right at the keeper.

Another chance came in the 37th minute from Hannah Cain who cut into the box from the right-hand side and managed to get a shot off, but Brighton defender Maisie Symonds intervened with a crucial block throwing herself at the ball.

The Seagulls failed to pose a real threat over the 90 minutes recording zero shots on goal.

There was a penalty claim in the 23rd minute following a challenge by Julie Thibaud on Michelle Agyemang, but referee Joanne Horwood swiftly dismissed it.

A double change involving their number nine Nikita Parris and Jelena Cancovic in the 61st minute seemed to breathe new life into the Seagulls, but it was not enough.

In the 73rd minute Parris played a dangerous cross in at the back post towards Kiko Seike but was unable to get a foot to it, summing up a frustrating night for the home side.
