Brighton Women continued their fine start to the season, with an easy 1-0 win against Leicester City Women at the Broadfield Stadium, moving up one space into third.

Brighton dominated the game from the start, when a through-ball from Bergsvand found Fran Kirby in the box but her shot was saved by Janina Leitzig in the Leicester goal.

Brighton had all the play but created very little after that Kirby shot but the Seagulls took the lead on 20 minutes when Nikita Parris scored a header from close range from a Jorelyn Caribali cross.

Leicester continued to struggle to gain a foot hold in the game and didn’t manage a shot on goal in the half. The Albion continued to maintain possession but chances from Parris and Olislagers failed to extend the lead.

The second half started much like the first half with the south coast side having much of the possession. Chances from Parris and Carabali were fired over the bar and Parris had a close-range effort saved again by Leitzig.

Brighton thought they had a penalty when Madison Haley was bundled over late in the game, but Referee Ade Soneye thought otherwise, much to the disappointment of the home fans. The game finished as it started, with Albion on top, despite some late pressure from Leicester, who created little throughout the whole game.
