Fran Kirby was the match winner for Brighton as her late goal secured a 3-2 win over West Ham in their Women’s Super League fixture at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton controlled the first half and broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when a perfectly weighted backheel from Kirby found the left foot of Rachel McLauchlan, who slotted the ball into the bottom left corner for the opening goal of the match and her first goal of the season.

The Seagulls made it 2-0 at the hour mark when McLauchlan made a good run down the right flank and found Kiko Seike in the box, who dribbled a shot into the back of the net.

The Hammers were right back in it a few minutes later after captain Katrina Gorry scored, only a few moments after hitting the crossbar.

Gorry then equalised shortly after with a powerful shot from the edge of the box that Sophie Baggaley was unable to keep out despite getting her hands to the ball.

With a nail-biting finish in store, Kirby stepped up and rose to the occasion as she found the bottom right corner in the 82nd minute to win the match for Brighton.
