United made to battle for all three points in fiery encounter
An old school game at Elland Road in difficult conditions, saw United come out 4-2 winners after withholding a Leeds fight back.
It was a fast paced start to the game with tackles flying in from both sides, the first real chance fell to the feet of Harrison who sliced his effort wide from close in.
A clash of heads between McTominay and Coch left the later with a nasty cut on his head which had to be bandaged up, causing a large stoppage in play.
A brilliant piece of play by Pogba down the left flank where he jinked past Forshaw at ease which gave the Frenchman the space to fire the ball square into the onrushing Ronaldo who was almost certain to score but for the reflexes and speed of Meslier who kept it out.
Following the earlier clash Coch suffered he eventually deemed it too difficult for himself to continue due to impact on his head.
34 minutes in and United struck first following a Shaw corner which was met by Maguire who headed home, Llorente was the man marking the United captain but failed to keep track of him.
Fernandes made it two for the away side after Sancho stood up a cross which fell onto the head of the Portuguese midfielder who had the job of guiding the ball into the back of the net.
Leeds went into the half time break with it all to do after not really imposing themselves on United which allowed the away side to dominate the game.
Leeds was offered some hope as Rodrigo whipped in the ball from the left which ended up looping over de Gea, a fluky goal for sure.
And Leeds levelled it a minute after Rodrigo’s goal, this time Raphina, it was James low ball across the box which met the Brazilian at the back post who tapped home. 54 minutes in and the game was all square once again.
Off the bench and Fred blasted the ball in at the near post to put United back in front in this frantic game.
Youngster Elanga settled the fiery encounter as Fernandes nicked the ball from Struijk and played the ball across to Elanga who slid it through the legs of Meslier.
The win puts United in a strong position for their fight for the top 4 and as for Leeds they will continue to look over their shoulder as the relegation battle heats up.
