Tonight is the first leg between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund in the quarter final of the Champions League.

The home side has made five changes to the team that beat Leicester City at the weekend with John Stones, João Cancelo, Fernandinho Phil Foden and Bernando Silva in the team in place of Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy, İlkay Gündoğan, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero.

Dortmund has made three changes to the team that lost to Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 at the weekend with Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud and Ansgar Knauff in for Nico Schulz, Thomas Delaney and Thorgan Hazard. Dortmund has had a disappointing season as they look like they won’t qualify for the Champions League this season so this is a huge set of games in their season.

Both side snare now coming out for the start of the game.

Dortmund is starting off the game in Manchester.

3rd min: Good start for Dortmund putting Manchester City under pressure early on in the game.

7th min: Jude Bellingham was able to get the first shot off in the game which was well saved by Ederson in the Manchester City.

11th min: Manchester City has been very tentative at the start of this game as they haven’t had a shot on goal yet.

15th min: Not been the best start to the game as their hasn’t been many chances. Dortmund are trying to get Haaland on goal but has failed so far in this game.

19th min: Goal for Manchester City! Kevin De Bruyne just scored the first goal in the game. Manchester City was able to break away. Mahrez was able to find the ball in the penalty area and play it to De Bruyne in the boxed who scored a first time finish.

24th min: Haaland tried finding Marco Reus in the Manchester City penalty area but Ederson was quick off his line and won his side a free kick.

29th min: PENALTY FOR MANCHESTER CITY! Emre Can gives away a penalty kicking Rodri in the face. Seems harsh as Can’s leg wasn’t that high.

32nd min: After a long VAR check the penalty isn’t given as the footage shows there wasn’t any contact between Rodri and Can.

35th min: Manchester City has been very dominant in the game so far since the goal.

37th min: Poor refereeing cancelled out the Dortmund goal for a free kick against Bellingham for a foul on Ederson in the Manchester City. Bellingham clearly won the ball but the referee gave the free kick against Dortmund and gave a yellow card to Bellingham for the foul.

40th min: Dortmund has gotten better in the last few minutes in this game as they have has a lot of possession in the last few minutes.

45th min: ONE MINUTE OF ADDED TIME IN THE FIRST HALF.

Half time in Manchester with the home side winning 1-0. De Bruyne scored the goal that separates the two team. Dortmund will feel like they should have had a goal with Bellingham but the referee ruled the goal out.

Manchester City started the second half.

48th min: First chance in the second half goes Haaland who shot was well saved Ederson in the Manchester City goal.

51st min: Foden tried testing Hitz in the Dortmund goal but his shot was dragged wide of the goal.

55th min: Both teams are struggling to break down the opposition defence.

59th min: Substitution for Manchester City! Bernardo Silva is off for Gabriel Jesus.

62nd min: Substitution for Dortmund! Knauff is off for Giovanni Reyna.

65th min: Good save from Hitz off a cut back that fell to Foden in the penalty area. The young Englishman should have done better with the shot it went straight to the goal keeper.

70th min: 20 minutes left in the game as Manchester City are still winning 1-0.

73rd min: Haaland has been quite tonight but still could do something in the game tonight.

77th min: Another shot for Foden which was again well saved by Hitz as the ball goes out for a goal kick.

81st min: Substitutions for Dortmund! Dahoud and Morey are off for Thomas Meunier and Thomas Delaney.

84th min: GOAL FOR DORTMUND! Reus equalises for Dortmund with a calm finish in the bottom corner. The Dortmund captain was able to get in on goal and finish the chance beautifully.

90th min: Goal for Manchester City! Foden scores a late goal. Gündoğan does well in receiving the ball in the penalty area and found Foden who buried the chance.

Full time in Manchester as Manchester City won the game 2-1. Foden’s late goal gives his side a boost going into the second leg which is taking place next Wednesday. Dortmund will be happy with the away goal that they were able to get at the Etihad but they will know they have a lot of work to do if they are going to qualify into the next round.
