Manchester United will be looking to do the double over Everton for the first time since the 2017/18 Premier League season when the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won on the two occasions the sides have met this season, coming out 3-1 winners in the league before following it up with a 2-0 victory in the Carabao Cup, both at Goodison Park.
Whilst United currently sit five places above Carlo Ancelotti’s men in second place, they will need to be prepared to face a strong Everton side that have been showing some impressive form away from home with Saturday’s hosts being the only side to pick up more points away from home this season along with Leicester City.
Manchester United’s home form this season has been less than impressive despite their last game at Old Trafford in the league ending in an emphatic 9-0 win over Southampton. All four of United’s losses in the league have come at Old Trafford, including defeats against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
This game could see the Red Devils go level on points with Manchester City who play Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, whilst a win for visitors Everton could take them just a point behind their Merseyside rivals before their game on Sunday.
Team News
Solskjaer has confirmed that he should have his full squad at his disposal for the game against Everton, with Eric Bailly and Edinson Cavani the only doubts through injury.
Ancelotti will be without midfielder Allan and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who both picked up injuries in recent matches.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Everton
