Prediction: 3-0 Manchester United
Manchester United will be looking to replicate their Europa League heroics in midweek as they take on an injury struck Newcastle United side at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking for his side to start picking up form in the league with the Red Devils winning only one of their last five league games, two of which have been against sides in the bottom three.
Newcastle currently sit 17th in the table and following fellow relegation strugglers Fulham picking up a crucial three points at home to Sheffield United on Saturday evening, another poor performance in this game could see the Magpies get dragged into to a relegation dogfight.
The home side have history on their side when it comes to previous meetings between the two teams with Manchester United winning four of their last five league fixtures against Newcastle, winning their last two by a 4-1 score-line.
The last time the visiting side in this fixture took home all three points was back in 2013 thanks to a Yohan Cabaye goal in the 73rd minute. Cabaye announced his retirement from football earlier in the week which gives a large indication of how long-awaited a win at Old Trafford will be for Newcastle fans.
Team News
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Edinson Cavani and Donny Van De Beek will be doubts for this fixture after they picked up muscle injuries in United’s last league outing against West Brom. Phil Jones is confirmed to be out of action for another six weeks.
Steve Bruce will be without Callum Wilson, Fabian Schär and Javier Manquillo who all picked up injuries in their 3-2 win over Southampton a fortnight ago.
