Chelsea beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park, courtesy of a Mason Mount brace and a number of heroic saves from Kepa Arrizabalaga
Aston Villa made Chelsea work for their three points this afternoon but shot themselves in the foot after Tyrone Mings misjudged a header which fell to Mount and at point blank ranged swept the ball past the onrushing Emiliano Martinez only in the 5th minute of the game.
Kepa had the game of his life making four massive saves in the first half which kept his side in the lead, with three of them all coming one after another in quick succession.
The Villa onslaught continued throughout the entire game however, and in the 65th minute Mount got his second via a freekick from close range. This being his only goals of the Premier League season so far.
A game which Aston Villa dominated for the majority with 18 shots to Chelsea’s eight but Kepa was the difference maker who made save after save. This being the Spaniards fourth clean sheet in the row, probably the best form he’s been in for Chelsea ever since his big money transfer.
A gritty win for Chelsea and Graham Potter keeps them in 4th and on the tails of the teams ahead of them, for Villa, they remain in 16th as Steven Gerrard’s men look to find some consistency in the league.
